I live in the Bronx, NY and moved to New York City in 1970 from Lockport, NY, as small town in upstate, western New York.
I graduated from the State University College of Education at Buffalo with a B.S. degree majoring in art education.
I taught eighth grade art in the New York City school system for one year (which was enough, thank you) and then was manager of a toy store in Rockefeller Center for two years (Creative Playthings) before accepting a position as art director of a company on Madison Avenue (Cal Industries), working also as a Graphic Artist for 6 years, then leaving to do free-lance (more clients, better income). During this time I began my company called 'Skywalls', and managed to get some press in New York magazine, which led to creating several hand-painted skies on walls and ceilings for a number of clients. (Yoko Ono and John Lennon, oops, name dropping again, sorry). After a few years, I chose to art direct the gay magazine, Blueboy which started my photography career. Since I very much enjoyed photographing nude young men for several magazines, I decided to include video as well, and established 'The Latino Fan Club' in 1985. It began as a mail-order company, and I shot and sold over 200 gay porn titles (first on VHS, and later on DVD). In 2005 Paladin Video of Las Vegas has distributed my features world-wide. Just 4 or 5 years ago, I was shooting 10 to 12 productions per year, but that came crashing down due to all the free porn on the Internet.
As I am living now on my monthly social security check, and with only two new DVD releases so far this year, I can't exactly retire despite the fact that I just turned 70. I couldn't just sit around like an old man doing nothing, anyway--I've always had two or three "projects" going all my life. Right now I've been lucky (and thrilled) to be enjoying this documentary film making class, and I've just been accepted to Empire State College as a Graduate student for the Spring '15 term. Along with Mr. Burnside, I am writing a memoir of our days as directors of gay porn, and I'm also getting ready a show of my art & photography at the Leslie Lohman Gallery in early December. I'm also shooting a new xxx video as yet to be titled!
